An AI-assisted document review workflow that analyzes uploaded business documents, sends them for human approval in ClickUp, routes the files based on the decision, and keeps Airtable and Slack synchronized throughout the process.
01 / Project Overview
AI-assisted review. Human-controlled decisions.
This system automates the intake, analysis, and approval flow for internal business documents. New files uploaded to Google Drive are checked for duplicates, analyzed by AI, stored in Airtable, and sent to ClickUp for human review. Once the reviewer changes the task status, a second workflow updates Airtable, moves the document to the correct folder, and sends a Slack notification based on whether the document was approved, rejected, or marked for revision.

03 / Workflow Architecture / Zap 1
Document intake & AI review
A new document trigger checks Airtable for duplicates. New files are extracted from Google Docs, analyzed by AI, recorded in Airtable, turned into ClickUp approval tasks, and then sent to Slack for human review. Existing documents are routed to a duplicate-alert path.
03 / Workflow Architecture / Zap 2
Human approval & decision routing
A ClickUp status change triggers the second workflow. The linked Airtable record is found, the approval decision is validated, and the document is routed through one of three paths: Approved, Rejected, or Needs Revision. Airtable is updated, the document is moved in Google Drive, and Slack notifications are sent.
CRM / Tracking
Review database
Airtable stores document IDs, names, Google Drive links, document type, AI summary, missing information, risk indicators, AI recommendation, and final review status.
Human Review
Approval queue
ClickUp organizes approval tasks by status, including Pending Human Review, Approved, Rejected, and Needs Revision. This is where the final human decision is made.
Final Output / Approved
Approved notification
When a document is approved, Slack receives a summary with the document information, review result, final status, and confirmation that Airtable and Google Drive were updated.
Final Output / Needs Revision
Needs revision notification
If the reviewer requests changes, the workflow records the decision, updates Airtable, moves the document to the revision folder, and notifies the team in Slack.
Final Output / Rejected
Rejected notification
Rejected documents are routed to the rejected folder and the decision is posted to Slack so the team can determine whether resubmission is needed.

06 / Final Outcome
A practical review process with human oversight.
This automation combines AI-assisted review with final human approval, giving teams a practical way to process business documents without losing oversight. AI supports content extraction and initial assessment, while ClickUp, Airtable, Google Drive, and Slack keep the review process organized, trackable, and decision-ready.
AI recommendations are advisory. The human reviewer makes the final decision, including when it differs from the AI assessment. The supplied examples document Approved, Rejected, and Needs Revision outcomes without claiming measured time savings or percentages.
